Musicians, prominent human rights activists and others expressed solidarity with Iranian students, minorities, intellectuals and laborers last Monday during a concert of words and music at the Edgerton Center.
The Freedom Concert featured an address by Lily Mazahery, a Persian-American human rights lawyer, activist and founder of the Legal Rights Institute. Mazahery has a distinguished record of advocacy and activism on behalf of human rights victims around the world. |

Several musical acts performed on campus last week filling the air with a mix of tantalizing bass beats, guitar riffs, and orchestral variations.
Sacred Heart University’s Student Life Department presented Grammy Award-winning musical artists NE-YO and T-Pain in concert last Friday at the Pitt Center, while the Irish Chamber Orchestra performed at the Edgerton Center. Earlier in the week, the Freedom Concert was also held at the Edgerton. |

Kianoosh Sanjari, one of Iran's most recognized and well-known student activists and bloggers, spoke as well.
The concert also featured live musical performances by Honest Abe and The Emancipators, Charlie “CHAZ” Cybulski, Humble Roots, ICE Brothers, Pete Greco & Buck Mulligan, Jeff Leblanc, Joe Beleznay, and Greg Golda.
“Our cause is twofold,” Jason Guberman-Pfeffer, concert organizer, said. “To stand in solidarity with Iranian dissidents, especially students, in their struggle to strengthen civil society, cultivate human rights, and build a liberal democracy. We also need to raise consciousness of anyone who will listen about the ways we can work to realize these very realizable goals." |
